Scientific-practical conference “Youth Arctic: Science for the Future”

Staff and students of Yugra State University took part as experts at the scientific and practical conference “Youth Arctic: Science for the Future”, which was held in Khanty-Mansiysk on May 24-25, 2024. The new scientific platform created on the territory of Yugra took place with the support of the Government of Yugra, in partnership with the International Organization of Northern Regions “Northern Forum”, the Russian-Asian Consortium for Arctic Research and Yugra State University.

During two days participants from more than 10 regions and 5 countries shared their scientific projects in the field of ecology, culture of indigenous peoples of the North, creative ideas for the development of Northern and Arctic territories.

“Discussion platforms of this level are a great opportunity for talented youth to exchange best practices and establish professional contacts. Yugra State University has been studying issues related to the development of the Northern and Arctic territories for a long time, and the projects of our students presented today are proof of that. I am sure that thanks to such events we will contribute to strengthening the scientific, technical, economic and personnel foundation for the development of the Arctic zone", - Roman Kuchin, Rector of Yugra State University, noted in his welcoming speech.

Roman Kuchin awarded international participants with certificates for internship at the university's platforms: Baljinnyam Demberelmaa, senior lecturer at the Mongolian State University, and Gao Fei, postgraduate student of the School of Law at the Ocean University of China.

“The development of scientific research of the North and the Arctic is at the peak of everyone's attention, and involving young people in the implementation of new Arctic large-scale projects is becoming one of the primary tasks, including for scientific and educational organizations. Today more than ever we need people who understand the issues related to the Arctic, and such events help to train real professionals to solve urgent problems and are capable of ensuring a decent future in the Arctic” - said Tatiana Dyatlova, Associate Professor of the High School of Digital Economy of the University, coordinator of the Russian-Asian Consortium of Arctic Studies, moderator of the conference.
